Portal Home > Knowledgebase > VPN - All platforms > I use OpenVPN, but UDP is blocked
All UDP ports are blocked. This prevents OpenVPN from working.
Solution
- We offer TCP versions of each server. This allows uses who cannot use the normal (UDP) connections to connect.
- The TCP versions connection use port 443, normally used by secure websites. Essentially the VPN connection will be masqueraded as if you were browsing a secure website.
]Optional: proxy users
- You will have to manually edit one of the TCP configuration files or ask our support staff to do this for you.
- In the Windows client you can simple select one of the server and click "Edit Config" to reveal the config file.
- In the TCP configuration file, replace:
remote ovpg.12vpn.com 443 tcpwith
remote ovpg.12vpn.com 443 tcp http-proxy 192.168.1.1 8080 http-proxy-retry
- The values behind "remote" may be different, depending on the server you select. Above values are for the "Automatic" server.
- Make sure to replace 192.168.1.1 with the address of your proxy and 8080 with its port. These values can only be provided by your IT department or ISP.
